Roses are red, violets are blue, I hate Congress and I love them too.

Hurricane Sandy victims are angry at the House Republicans because they defeated a $60 billion bill that would assist them to rebuild their lives.  Bad Republicans!  Wait!  Who’s going to pay for this bill?  The rest of us, that’s who.

Our competing desires are an amazing phenomenon;:  1) Spend money on government programs.  2) Don’t raise taxes.  To put a finer point on this:  1) Spend money on government programs that benefit me and mine. 2) Raise taxes on the other guy. Our schizoid thinking is reflected in the 9 percent approval rating we give our Congress.
