Romney wins debate!
Well, no surprise this morning. The presidential debate had a “winner”. But has it occurred to anyone but me that we
don’t need a winner in politics? We need
accurate assessments of our problems and effective solutions to same.
Last night was definitely not a move in that direction. Depending on which pundit you read today, Mr.
Romney told between 7 and 28 lies. Mr.
Obama failed to effectively call him on them and told a few of his own. And the moderator, Mr. Lehrer could have left
after the introduction for all the structure and order he put into the evening.
So you Republicans can he happy about the guy that you didn’t
want until there was no one left.
Remember, Santorum, Perry, Gingrich, Bachmann, etc.? You Democrats can criticize Mr. Obama for his
half-hearted performance and in particular his failure to force Mr. Romney to explain
the details of his economic plans – that is, the ones that defy basic
mathematics.
The American public lost this debate. But in this post-truth era, that probably
doesn’t mean anything anyway. Once our
minds are made up we don’t let any facts get in the way.
