R.I.P. decorum!
Now the debate gets interesting. Should Rush Limbaugh be removed from the airwaves? Is he worse or better than Bill Maher? Should Rush be sued by Ms. Fluke? Should Limbaugh’s sponsors bail out on him?
It seems to me that Limbaugh appeals to a fairly large group of listeners. Now his sponsors must make a decision. Will they continue to get the return on their investments by sticking with Rush? Or is it better to jump ship, avoid the controversy and advertise somewhere else?
The whole sordid event boils down to the most important and highest priority in the business world – money. When the dust has settled, I suspect that all these issues will be answered by the same metric – how much will be gained or lost in monetary terms. Regarding the issue of propriety on either of the shows, Limbaugh or Maher, it’s only an issue if it affects their profit margins. Decorum is dead and buried with it are dignity, respect and intelligent dialogue.
