Hot mics often get politicians into hot water.

Robin Marty wrote on care2.org today, "Discussing missile defense, Obama told Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that they need to not push things until campaign season is over. “This is my last election…After my election I have more flexibility.”

Of course the Right has jumped on this opportunity to make some political hay. But it works both ways. We've heard these "hot mike" instances many times. The good news is that we get a glimpse of the background conversations among our politicians.

I'm certainly not proud of our president for making these comments, but it was a welcome look at an honest opinion. If only we could have more of the same
